While I love this list, let me make it even easier. If you're disturbed about the reason you're calling, how would you explain your concern to your best friend? Write that down. THAT'S what you should be telling the legislator you're contacting. In your own words, tell him/her what's bothering you. Don't try to polish it. Write it just exactly as you would say it. (Don't forget punctuation. In my experience, most educated folks will judge the value of a person's ideas based on their perception of the writer's intelligence. They will often make THAT perception on something as simple as punctuation.

"Let's eat Grandma"

"I like cooking my family and pets"

What if you're uncomfortable giving your personal info (address & phone)? Does your call still count? Those of us living in a red state with Republican reps already feel targeted without providing a direct list...

That’s a great flag—thank you! You absolutely do not have to share your address. In my experience, they’d likely only need it to check if you live in the member’s house district since some share cities/zipcodes. Hope that helps!

Thanks to all who gave us this valuable guide to contacting our government. Every hour of every day brings more unimaginable horror from Trump, muskRAT and the sycophants in Congress and in the cabinet. I want them all to be impeached, indicted and convicted and banished.

My wife and I write often. I'm sure some junior staffer logs all these emails with a simple yay or nay checkmark on a clipboard. Each one counts. Your messages will carry more weight if you limit each communication to one subject. If you're disconcerted by four different policies, send four different messages. Otherwise you run the risk of having only the first point counted before they move on to the next one. Also, while you're writing your senators and your congressperson, don't forget the president and VP. Write to them both. They'll compare notes.

See something say something.
